“Dr. Milmon’s World” Teaching Website

drmilmon website photo“Dr. Milmon’s World” is the website I designed and developed to represent my life as a professor at the University of California, Davis. I built this site using the Twitter Bootstrap framework, and particularly wanted to communicate that although I am a professor, I still have a lighthearted and approachable personality.

This is a static website that I think represents me very well and provides visitors with virtually everything they need to know about me and the classes I teach at UC Davis. It is also evidence that I am able to use popular contemporary web development tools and frameworks and that I know how to utilize HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/JQuery to create a customized website design. I added a few additional elements, such as a “back to the top” feature and code that displays the copyright range, based on the beginning year and the current year. Also, I included a script that “knows” what time of time a visitor is viewing the site and adjusts the greeting (“good morning, afternoon, or evening”) accordingly. One final technical note: this website is comprised of PHP server-side code as the basis for its individual pages. I did this in preparation for the time when I would begin to transform static HTML page into WordPress themes. You can check out the site at: http://www.drmilmon.com
